SWIMMING

MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. DONATION OF TROPHIES. The annual meeting of the Masterton Amateur Swimming and Life Saving Club was held last evening, Mr C. Spiers presiding. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. A credit balance of £6 4s was shown. Officers were elected as follow: Patron, Mr H. E. Pither; president, Mr H. P. Glen; vice-presidents, Mesdames D. Andrews and A. Maguire, Messrs A. V. Faulknor, D. Andrews, H. M. Morton, C. Spiers, F. O’Connor, J. Robertson, T. Jordan and J. Bruce; committee, Mrs Major, Miss D. Heaven, Messrs F. Stains, F. Morton, N. A. Faulknor, A. Dean, R. Barnes, J. Barnes, D. O’Connor, and C. Roff; secretary and treasurer, Mr V. McKeague; hon auditor, Mr D. B. Curry; club captain, Mr H. Dixon; vice-captain, Mr G. Barr; handicappers, Messrs M. Fly and D. Pauling; hon auditor, Mr J. V. Dooling; delegate to Wellington Centre, Mr K. Spry; delegate to Royal New Zealand Life Saving Society, Mr McCartney. Mr Stains donated a trophy for the junior girl attending the largest number of weekly competitions and an anonymous donor gave four miniature cups for a girls’ inter-club relay race. Both donors were thanked.

The subscriptions were fixed the same as those for last year. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mr H. M. Peacock who was president of the club.
