NAVY LEAGUE

MEETING AT MASTERTON.

A well-attended meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held in Masterton yesterday afternoon.

A confei’ence of the Navy League branches in New Zealand is to be held in Wellington during the first week in February, to meet Earl Beatty, who will be in New Zealand on a short visit. It was decided to send several delegates to the conference and also the following rerpit:—“That those members who have paid £5 or over in consecutive annual subscriptions may, if they wish to do so, become life members, by paying the balance of the life members’ subscription in one payment.

A report of the Locality Committee’s meeting of Pan-Pacific Conference was received.

The secretary reported on Mr Darroch’s visit to Masterton in July, and accounts in connection with the meeting held were passed for payment. It was reported that forty-five new members had been enrolled this year and that there also had been a good increase in the number of school members.

A poster map has been presented to the Mauriceville West School in recognition of the children having maintained their membership for a number of years, although Navy League lecturers had not been able to visit the school.
