The programme contributed by members of the Eketahuna Institute at the last meeting of the Hamua Institute was as follows: Song, Mrs Fox; oneact play, “Glass Houses,” Mrs Macky, Misses Mitchell, Schultz and F. The making of a rope bead necklace was demonstrated by Miss' Mitchell and after another song rendered by Mrs Fox the meeting concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. Federation Meeting. On Friday the half-yearly meeting of the Federation of Women’s Institutes will be held at Eketahuna when it is expected that about 300 delegates coming from districts from Woodville to Featherston will be present. Proceedings will start at 10.30 a.m. with morning tea. At eleven o’clock the Mayor (Mr W. Simpson) will officially open the meeting. An hour will be taken for lunch and before dispersing the company will be served with afternoon tea. An Excellent Concert. The concert given by the Eketahuna Concert Band was a most enjoyable one. The programme was of a standard that was greatly appreciated, and those who contributed are to be congratulated on the excellence of their efforts. The members of the Band were: —Mr N. Liardet (piano), Messrs A. Rowden and K. Marenzi (Saxophones), Paul Bouzaid (violin), D. Thompson (clarinet), J Williams (Ist cornet), Noel Masen (2nd cornet)/ J. Unwin (trumpet), H. Smith trombone). F. Robinson (drums and effects). The singing of Master Welch, a boy soprano, who did well at the Wellington competitions recently, was warmly encored by the large audience. Miss Bouzaid (Greytown) was encored for her piano solo, which was excellently played. A dance duo by two Greytown performers, Miss Bouzaid and Mr Brown, was deservedly encored. Mr F.' Robinson greatly pleased with his singing and MiBrown's splo dance was splendidly executed. The next concert is to be staged after Christmas.
