Miss Sylvia Beach, who as “Shakespeare and Company,” published Mr James Joyce’s "Ulysses” in Paris when it could not.be published in the United Kingdom or the United States, has been made a Chevalier Of the Legion of Honour. Miss Beach is an American citizen. For years she has had a lending library and bookshop in the Rue de I’Odeon, where the works of young English writers, otherwise difficult to obtain in France, can always be found.
