SHORTHORN BULLS
SALE AT TUPURUPURU. EXCELLENT PRICES REALISED. • The seventh annual sale of Shorthorn bulls was held on account of Mr D. Buchanan, at “Tupurupuru” yesterday, when an entry of 17 2-yr and one yearling bull was submitted to a representative attendance. This fixture usually attracts graziers from all parts of the North Island, and this year was no exception, for buyers were present from Hawke’s Bay, Taihape and Wanganui districts. By the importation of Stud Bulls from overseas, Mr Buchanan has aimed to improve the Shorthorn breed in the Dominion, and the use of this imported blood was reflected yesterday in the very select cattle paraded before the public. It is doubtful if ever such a selection of high, class Shorthorn bulls have been submitted by auction in this country, and this fact was attested to by the high uniform range of prices. With the exception of the yearling, ■ all bulls were sold under the hammer at the following realisations: —“Gladstone Gamma 27th to Mrs M. J. Campbell, Mt Bruce 50gns; “Gladstone President 45th," to W. Howard Booth, Carterton, 33gns; “Gladstone Gamma 29th” to Allister Williams, Te Parae, 70gns; “Gladstone Gamma 39th,” K. B.
