EXPORT BUTTER
AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND PRICES Sir —The following is from the Bay of Plenty Times of August 4, 1938: — “Pay-out of 17£d per pound to AusLralian Farmers —‘A pay-out of 17id per pound for all butterfat received for the season has now been made.’ This quotation is from the annual report of a large Australian Co-operative butter factory. At that pay-out our cousins across the Tasman are receiving 2d per pound more than New Zealand ’dairyfarmers.” I would like to know how they get it? Australian butter is always Is to 4s or 5s a cwt cheaper than New Zealand butter. I suppose Mr Nash can tell us. —I am, etc., —DAIRY FARMER.
