POLLING DAY
CO-OPERATION OF ELECTORS SOUGHT. REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE BY RETURNING OFFICER. The co-operation of electors is sought by Mr D. C. E. Webster, returning officer for the Masterton electorate to ensure the smooth working of voting’ arrangements on Saturday. Mr Webster said arrangements had been made for polling booths in various parts of the electorate, a list of which had been advertised and he particularly requested voters to use as far as possible the booths in the vicinity of their place of residence, rather than proceed to other booths further away, which might lead to congestion at the principal booths. If the voting was well distributed it would greatly assist the officials and would avoid any unnecessary delay to the public. In the case of the Masterton Municipal Hall, Mr Webster said electors would be required, after recording their votes, to leave the hall by the rear exit. As a heavy poll was expected, Mr Webster said the co-operation and assistance of the public would be greatly appreciated, so as to ensure every expedition, on polling day.
