The Hon Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, arrived in Wellington this morning from the south. The Hon P. Fraser, Minister of Education, is expected to return to Wellington today from Hawke’s Bay. The Hon W. Nash, Minister of Finance, visited Feilding yesterday. He will visit Carterton tonight. The Hon R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, returned to Wellington from the south yesterday. Dr. P. R. Cook, of Masterton, has decided to take three months’ complete rest and during that period Dr. H. B. Berney will act as locum tenens. The Hon D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Railways, arrived in Wellington by the Limited express this morning from Taumarunui and left later in the day by air for Christchurch.

Mr F. J. McDonald, who was recently appointed pilot-instructor to the Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club, arrived in Masterton yesterday from Greytown and has now taken over his duties at the Hood Aerodrome. Mr G. H. Hume, at present deputysuperintendent to the Masterton Fire Brigade, has been appointed deputysuperintendent station officer to the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade. There were 21 applicants. Mr Hume has been stationed in Mastertonf or about two years. Mr F. W. Dawson, general manager o£ the Bank of New Zealand, will retire on April 30, 1939, after nearly half a century of unbroken service. It is the intention of Mr Dawson, accompanied by Mrs Dawson, to leave New Zealand in the Rangitane on May 4 of next year, on a visit to England. The Rev A. Mason, a member of the Melanesian Mission Staff at Malaita ( British Solomon Islands, arrived at Auckland by the Rotorua from England on Saturday on his way back to the mission field after spending a holiday in Great Britain. He was accompanied by Mrs Mason. They intend to go to Christchurch, where they have a son at school, before leaving for the Solomons.
