REPERTORY MOVEMENT
MR F. E. McCALLUM ADDRESSES ROTARY CLUtJ. PROGRESS IN MASTERTON. The “History of Drama and the Growth of the Little Theatre Movement,” was the subject of a most interesting and instructive address given at today’s luncheon of the Masterton Rotary Club by Mr F. E. McCallum. Mr McCallum referred to the origin of the repertory movement and the causes of its growth. This was assisted by the war and the slump and was influenced also by the falling away from the legitimate stage on account of the talkies. These changes occurred at a time when the world needed a medium of expression which the little theatre provided. Mr McCallum referred tc the strength and interest of the repertory movement in Masterton and the good work done by the Drama League. Mr McCallum was accorded a hearty, vote of thanks.
