MOTOR RALLIES
POPULARITY IN FRANCE. A large number of international motor rallies are held in France every year, to which motorists come from all parts of Europe. These rallies end at some fashionable resort. One of the mobt popular of these rallies has for destination La Baule, on the French Atlantic coast. Money prizes are numerous and important. Points are given for the time taken from the starting point, general average speed, condition of the car on arrival, and a supplementary contest tests the skill of the drivers over short given courses. Many motorists travel to France not only taking part in these rallies but on holiday bent. The most popular motor route is by way of Calais, Paris, Lyons, to the Riviera. But other motorists are discovering the pleasures'bf the Pyrenees and the Dordogne region. Everywhere in France motor roads are good. / For those with light cars who do not Want to travel great distances, the French National Railways offer special facilities, and under certain conditions governed by distance travelled and number of persons accompanying the car the vehicle is carried free of charge.
