KNOX LADIES’ GUILD

MONTHLY MEETING. The members of Knox Ladies’ Guild held their meeting on Wednesday last when they met at the residence of Mrs Ractliffe, York Street. There was a good attendance and a very pleasant afternoon was spent. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs J. Davie in her illness, the secretary being directed to write a letter to her. After having cared for the communion linen for sixteen years, Miss Ross intimated that she would now be obliged to relinquish this office. It was decided to leave the matter of appointing her successor until the November meeting, when it was hoped that someone would volunteer to continue this service for the church. Mrs Reynolds offered to place flowers in the church for September while Mrs Gaskin stated that she would do the same for October. A successful “Bring and Buy” stall was conducted by Mrs Carstens. A short programme was given, which consisted of piano solos by Mrs Barns and vocal solos by Mrs Traynor. A competition was won by Mrs J. McGregor. After afternoon tea had been served. Mrs G. W. Morice moved a cordial vote of thanks to the hostesses, Mrs Ractliffe and Wesney, and to those who had provided the programme, these being carried by acclamation. The November meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs F. Reynolds, Lansdowne.
