PRIMARY SCHOOLS TOURNEY. THIS MORNING’S CONTESTS. The primary schools basketball tournament was held on the Central School grounds this morning. Competition was keen in all grades and there was little between many of the teams. Results are as follow: — A grade: St Patrick’s beat Martinborough Whatman beat Lansdowne; West beat Central. Semi-final: Whatman beat West. Final: St Patrick’s beat Whatman 5/4, after extra time had been played. B grade: Carterton District High School I beat West; Central I beat Martinborough; Central II beat Carterton Convent; Lansdowne beat Carterton 11. Semi-finals: Carterton I beat Central I; Central II beat Lansdowne. The final between Carterton I and Central II was abandoned, on account of rain, after eight minutes’ play. The score then was Carterton 5, Central 3. C grade: Whatman beat St Patrick’s; West beat Central; Whatman beat Carterton Convent. Final: West beat Whatman.
