BRIGHT BLOOMS
DISPLAY IN THE PARK. The begonia house in the Masterton Park, which was built last year by the Masterton Borough Council, with financial help from the Masterton Beautifying Society is at present looking particularly gay with its display of cinerarias, cyclamen and lachenalias. The cineraria, of which there are about 200 pots, is the strain known as Carter’s large-flowered rainbow. This is a comparatively new strain and caused a sensation at the Chelsea Show, London, some time ago. The cyclamen, which is from imported seed raised in Masterton, stand out brightly at the far end of the greenhouse and the blooms are of various shades of colour. The lachenalias, which are growing in hanging baskets, are a picture on their own. There are eight baskets with about two dozen bulbs in each basket. The begonia house will be open to the each day (weather permitting) between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon and 1 and 3.30 p.m. Residents should not miss the opportunity of inspecting these beautiful blooms and a visit to the begonia house is well worth while.
