FLORAL WORK
ARTISTIC DEMONSTRATION. AT TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD MEETING. Mrs W. H. Judd presided at the monthly meeting of the Townswomen’s Guild held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall, yesterday afternoon, there being a large attendance of members and visitors. The ten-minute Travel Talk was presented by Mrs Miller Hope, whose subject “The Buller Gorge,” proved very interesting and was greatly appreciated by all present.
A lengthy discussion took place on the remits to be considered at the an•nual council meeting to be held in Wellington on September 28. Potatoes for the potatc/ growing competition were distributed to members. Mrs P. Borthwick gave a most artistic demonstration of floral work, showing with a splendid array of spring flowers, the correct method of decorating bowls and vases, and upon concluding was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. Some beautiful examples of crochet and knitting and fine needlework were displayed on the exhibition table. Buffet afternoon tea and the singing of the Guild Ode brought the meeting to a close.
