WEDDING

SAVAGE—CAMPBELL. A pretty wedding was solemnised at St Patrick’s Church, Masterton, on Saturday, the contracting parties being Miss Eileen Teresa Campbell, of Wellington, and Mr John Joseph, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Savage, Solway, Masterton. The Rev Father Moore celebrated Nuptial Mass, assisted by the Rev Father Brennan of Upper Hutt. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride, with spring bulbs and Iceland poppies. Miss M. Nee played the Wedding March. The bride, who was escorted by Mr Holtham, of Wellington, was gowned in a white lace frock, cut on classical lines, with a high neck-line and long sleeves, and the skirt falling away to a slight train. The veil was held in place with a head band of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of white hyacinths and maidenhair fern.

The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Monica Corrigan, of Wellington (chief) and Miss Winifrede Savage, who were frocked alike in champagne lace trimmed with cherry red velvet. Their halo head-bands were of red roses and gold leaves, and their bouquets were of red anemones and maiden-hair fern. The best man was Mr Bernard Savage, brotherof the bridegroom, and Mr Edward Savage was groomsman. A reception was afterwards held at the Empire Hotel, where a number of guests were entertained. Mrs Savage and Mrs Holtham received the guests. Mrs Savage wore a navy blue ensemble with accessories to tone. Her posy was of grape hyacinths and pink camelias. Mrs Holtham was attired in a green model costume with accessories to tone. Her bouquet was of stocks and hyacinths. A number of good wishes and congratulatory telegrams were received. Friends and relatives were present from Auckland, Rotorua, Wanganui, Christchurch and New Plymouth.

Later in the afternoon Mr and Mrs John Savage left by car on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a navy blue tailored costume with matching accessories. She wore a fok fur, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs Savage will reside at “Puketawa,” Tiraumea.
