WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT KOPUARANGA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting-of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was held on Thursday, Mrs S. J. Clarke presiding over a good attendance of members and visiting school children. The school children displayed their handwork, both the girls and the boys work being a credit to their teacher. The children also gave a travel talk on South Africa and a play-reading on the Dutch people. The children were heartily applauded for their entertainment throughout the afternoon.
Miss Pearl Cottle, on behalf of the children, thanked the Women’s Institute members for having asked them to the meeting. The roll call for the day was a wet day occupation. Competition results were as follow: — Telegram, Miss Wright, 1; Mrs Evans, 2;; Mrs W. J. Cottle, 3. Melting moments, Mrs Clark, 1; Mrs Evans, 2; Miss Kenny, 3. Best bloom, Mrs Evans, 1; Mrs Kenny, 2; Mrs Reside, 3, The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames R. Moon, A. B. Cottle, R. Miller. A successful “bring and buy stall” was held during the afternoon. The meeting was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
