ARBITRATION DELAYS
Protest by mr justice O’REGAN. TOO MUCH DETAIL LEFT TO COURT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 12. Criticising in strong terms the fact that so little had been done in Conciliation Council towards the settlement of an industrial dispute, Mr Justice O’Regan, in the Arbitration Court today, directed that the matter should be referred back to the parties for further consideration. Nothing of importance appeared to have been settled, Mr Justice O’Regan said. “We feel it absurd,” he added, “that the parties could not come closer together before entering the Court. When the fixture was made, we were told it would last only one day. Here we are confronted with a two-day job, and I confess I am disappointed.” Complaints about delay in the Court work are being made all over the country, he added. The Court was doing its best, and he seriously asked for the co-operation of bath parties.
