THE REGENT
“FIRfeFLY.” “Firefly,” Metro - Goldwyn - Mayer’s spectacular musical romance starring Jeanette McDonald, Allan Jehes, Warren William and Douglas Dunbrille will be shown again at the Regent Theatre tonight. Critics state that “Firefly” embraces all the adventure, romance, melody and spectacle of Miss McDonald’s previous vehicle, and the range of songs included in this exceptional film'provide her first screen opportunity to present a golden voice to the greatest advantage. She sings “Love Is Like a Firefly,” “I Adore You,” “A Woman’s Kiss,” “He Who Loves And Runs Away,” “Giannini Mia,” and the now famous “Sympathy,” while Allan Jones who will be remembered as Gaylord Ravenal in “Show Boat,” superbly renders the popular number, “The Donkey’s Serenade.” There are many other high-lights in this fascinating film. “ARSENE LUPIN RETURNS.” Arsene Impin, that famous; fictional character created by Maurice Le Blanc, -is revived in “Arsene Lupin Returns,” which begins at the Regent Theatre on Thursday. In this new mystery thriller the adventures of the famous gentlemen jewel thief, who is supposed to be dead, are continued. Melvyn Douglas, Virgtria Bruce and Warren William share leading roles with John Halliday and Nat Pendleton also prominently cast. In the supporting cast are Monty Woolley, E. E. Clive and George Zucco. The picture was directed by George Fitzmaurice.
