MR JAMES ROOSEVELT

SUCCESSFUL OPERATION PERFORMED. ROCHESTER, September 11. With his mother and wife accompanying him to the operating room and the President waiting anxiously in an ante-room, Mr James Roosevelt was successfully operated on for a nonmalignant ulcer in the stomach. The President’s personal physician watched the operation, which was performed by Mr Howard Grey, leading surgeon at the Mayo Clinic. He reported that as far as he could tell the operation was satisfactory.
