Moaveil won the Third Division of the Park Stakes, and Aladdin was unplaced in the First Division. SENSATIONAL bungle. MIX UP AT BARRIER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. SYDNEY, September 4. The Sunday newspapers feature the mix-up at the barrier in the Canterbury Guineas on Saturday. They describe it as a sensational bungle, originated by somebody tampering with the tapes. It is reported that boys climbed the fence and tied the starting lever to a nut, rendering it impossible for the tapes to lift, and when the starter cried out “Go,” three horses were caught in the tapes. Rathlin’s rider, F. Lewis, was pulled off and the jockey, E. Bartie, suffered facial injuries. Pandava, with McCarten, bolted under the tapes and went a mile before McCarten, hearing the shouts of the crowd, realised it had been a false start. The riderless Rathlin galloped behind but finally pulled up and began to feed on the grass on the track. McCarten declared Pandava was certainly not improved by the false start and thqt it was useless to gallop him afterwards. .
