W.C.T.U.
MEETING AT MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held on Thursday last in the Methodist Hall, Mrs Speight presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs Jansen led the devotional period with prayer and Bible reading. Two new members were initiated. Intimation was given of the special combined prayer .meeting to be held in Knox Church when a large representation from the W.C.T.U. was hoped for. It was decided to hold weekly prayer meetings in the Methodist Bible Class Room. Special leaders were appointed to take charge of the sessions. It was unanimously agreed to support a Chinese child for one year. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames M. McGregor and Willoughby, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The temperance fact supplied was as follows: —“I have been coaching boys in athletics for many years now, and of the champions I have met the best of them are total abstainers,” a statement made by Alec. D. Mclntosh, tutor at Technical College, Melbourne.
