READY MARKET FOR CATTLE. Large of cattle and sheep were of. ;ed at the Johnsonville stock sale yesArday. The bullocks were chiefly heavyweight, cattle. With the exception of unfinished cattle all bullocks met with a ready sale at prices firm on last week’s.. The cows and heifers were of exceptional quality, with a keen sale for all classes, especially for prime heavy heifers. Prime extra heavy cows were firmer by 5s a head, medium-weight cows showed no alteration, and prime quality heifers were 5s to 10s a head firmer. The yarding of wethers was of indifferent quality, very few pens of prime heavy sheep coming forward, the balance of the yarding consisting chiefly of lightweight and unfinished sorts. All classes sold at late rates. There was a larger yarding of ewes than usual, with very-few pens of heavyweight sheep. Extra prime heavy ewes sold at last week’s rate, and light and medium-weight ewes were slightly easier. The yarding of hoggets was of good quality, with prices showing no alteration.

Prices ranged as follows: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l5 10s to £l4 12s; prime heavy, £l4 10s to £l4; heavy, £l3 18s to £l3 ss; light and unfinished, £l2 12s 6d to £lO 10s; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £l2 5s to £lO 10s; prime heavy, £9 18s to £8 ss; others, £7 17s to £6 18s. Prime extra heavy wethers, 32s 3d to 31s 2d; prime heavy, 30s to 28s 4d; medium, 26s 9cl to 24s 8d; prime extra heavy ewes, 24s 6d to 22s 9d; prime heavy, 22s 6d to 20s; medium, 18s 6d to 15s: heavy hoggets, 27s 4d to 25s 3d; light, 23s 2d to 20s.
