THE DAILY DIETARY

REPLACING AND BUILDING.

PROTEINS NECESSARY.

Through scientific research, it has been found that a sufficiency of firstclass proteins are necessary to be taken in the daily dietary to ensure a margin to balance those consumed in the tissues as well as those excreted through the different excretory organs. Also, as physical growth takes place from babyhood to manhood, all the tissues of the body, the muscles, bones, nerves, blood, in fact, every cell of the human frame, have to be fed, not only to maintain their functioning and to replace those used up in the general wear and tear of life, but also to increase and build up further tissues for growth. It is quite understandable then why only the very best material should be used for this great purpose. As the best material is obtained from Al protein through animal sources, it is imperative that a child should have sufficient Al protein daily. At dinner-time a mistake is often made. The large, juicy portion of the grilled steak containing the Al protein often finds its way to father’s plate, whereas mother, both before baby arrives and during the nursing period, as well as the growing children (in proportion to their size), is in much more need of this steak than the man. A lad of fourteen needs a larger portion of firstclass protein than does his father of 40 or so, but seldom has his growth and .need of tissue and body building been thus considered. Even when financial circumstances force a tightening up in the commissariat, on no account should a child be deprived of body-biulding foods, any more than he should go without those protective foods so all-important for health reasons.
