BASKETBALL
WAIRARAPA TEAM LEAVES FOR TIMARU The Wairarapa Basketball Association’s representative team left yesterday for Timaru to take part in the annual New Zealand tournament, which commences there tomorrow. The team is as follow: — Forwards: N. Cohen, P. Hanley, J. Gemmell, P. Baskerville; centres, R. Edwards (captain), J. Russell, M. McLaren, P. Kilmister; defence, L. Renner (vice-captain), A. Burgess, E. Talbot, M. Cole. At the last moment E. Jones was prevented by illness from taking her place in the team, and the vacancy was filled by P. Baskiville. The team will be accompanied by Miss A. J. Shelton, Wairarapa delegates to the New Zealand Basketball Conference.
