The inaugural meeting of the new trotting season was held today at Epsom by the Auckland Trotting Club. The weather is showery, and there is a fair attendance. The track is holding. Results: — INTRODUCTORY HCP. 1J miles. 3/8 Aurumar, scr (C. McMillan) .... 1 7/5 Gold Kip, 12yds (C. Morrison) 2 4/3 Dick Redmond, 48yds (Newdick) 3 Scratched: Barba Bepo, Frontier Boy. Won by a length, with the third horse a neck away. Time, 3.45 3-5. MT EDEN HCP. 1?, miles 1/1 Tommy McElwyn, scr (McKenzie) 1 2/2 Gold Circle, 48yds (Broughton) 2 6/5 Bronze King, scr (Clifton) .... 3 All started. Tommy McElwyn won by five lengths, with Bronze King, 1£ lengths further back. Time 2.57 1-5. AUGUST HANDICAP, 1J miles. 2/2 Kenworthy, scr (Cutts) 1 7/8 Proletarian, scr (Morrison) 2 4/6 Our Peggy, scr (Stewart) 3 All started. Kenworthy won by a length, with the third horse a neck away.’ Time 3.28.
