BAN ON MAGAZINES
ACTION BY COMMONWEALTH CHALLENGED. SYDNEY, August 24. Legal action challenging the ban imposed by the Commonwealth Government on. the importation of certain sex and crime types of books and magazines is being taken in the High Court by the New South Wales Bookstall Company, Limited, which claims that the Government’s action is ultra vires. The Acting-Minister of Customs is also involved, owing to his refusal to permit the banned magazines to be returned either to America or New Zealand.
