The special marriage commemoration service conducted by the Rev R. Dudley at Trinity Methodist Church, Wanganui, was the first of its class held in New Zealand. Mr Dudley personally invited every couple whose marriage had been solemnised in the church during the term of his ministry to attend the service. The church was, full, some people coming from long distances. In addition, Mr Dudley received from various parts of New Zealand letters from many couples whom he had married, thanking him for the invitation but regretting that they could not be present at the service.
