STEADY PROGRESS

MR SAVAGE’S RECOVERY.

MANY KIND MESSAGES ACKNOWLEDGED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Prime Minister (the Rt Hon M. J. Savage) is much improved today and is getting up for a while this afternoon. Reporting following his inspection this morning, Mr Savage’s doctor remarked jocularly to members of the official party: “I’ll have him up at the post for the first race on Saturday,” Mr Savage has expressed his thankfulness for the great kindness shown him in Auckland and also by many people from all over the Dominion who have written or telegraphed him. He has received daily visits from the Mayor, Sir E. Davis and many other people, including prominent business men.

This morning he received the following telegram from the GovernorGeneral (Lord Galway) who is at present in Nelson: “Very sorry to hear of your indisposition. Hope you will soon recover and use the Government House grounds during your convalescence —(Signed) Galway.” Mr Savage commented to an interviewer that it was a very generous offer.
