HECTIC BOUT
DETTON BEATS BLOMFIELD. NEW ZEALANDER DISQUALIFIED. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, This Day. In a hectic bout, practically devoid of showmanship, Dean Detton, exworld champion, defeated Lofty Blomfield at Auckland last night. Blomfield was ahead on points after the first three rounds but then he submitted to a dangerous hammerlock secured by Detton. Blomfield equalised in the sixth round with his octupus clamp. The last two rounds were hectic and shortly after the start of the eighth, Blomfield was disqualified for butting Detton with his knee, an infringement of the rules for which he had been previously cautioned.
