DEFALCATION CHARGE

SALEMEN REMANDED. On a charge of failing to account for £26 received at Featherston on behalf of his employers, James *Strachan Greig, a s'alesman, aged 35, appeared before-Mr A. M. Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, on Saturday. He was remanded to appear next Friday. Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said accused was employed as a salesman of electrical household appliances by a Wellington firm and had worked in the Wairarapa recently. He and his employer came to the detective office on Friday night, and accused admitted defalcations totalling £ 130. He was a married man with two children. On the application of Mr J. A. Scott bail was allowed on accused’s own recognisance in the sum of £550, on condition that he report to the police twice daily.
