WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT. SINGLES TO E. A. ROUSSELL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington badminton championship and handicap tournament was concluded for all but two events on Saturday night. Misses B. and N. Payton, of Masterton, who played well throughout the tournament, showed excellent combination against Misses N. Fleming and F. Fernie, but they lacked the latter’s versatility and accuracy. Misses Fleming and Fernie played excellently, Miss Fleming, from backcourt, often making the for Miss Fernie, at the net, to smash the shuttle for an ace. Miss Fernie anticipated the play well and won many points with welljudged interceptions. Both sides, however, made mistakes on what appeared to be easy shuttles and certain winners.
