DANGERS OF GAS ATTACK IN AUSTRALIA' SIR E. ELLINGTON’S REPORT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S DECISION. By Telegraph —Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 10.50 a.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. The dangers to which the Australian civil population would be exposed from a gas attack launched by hostile aircraft are discussed at length in a report which the Chief Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Sir Edward Ellington, has submitted to the Federal Government. He confirms generally the conclusions reached by other authorities who have advised the Government, -that the danger of attack by gas bombs is remote. Acting on his recommendations the Federal Government has decided that it is not necessary to undertake the instruction of the public in anti-gas measures. DEFENCE RADIO MOST POWERFUL STATION IN EMPIRE. (Recd This Day, 10.50 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Minister for Defence, Mr H. C. V. Thorby, stated that the radio station which the Federal Government is building at Canberra, • as part of its defence and wireless ' communication service‘and which it is estimated will cost £250,000 will be the most powerful in the British empire.
