’ ’Miss Jean'Whyte, of the staff of ’ Watson and Co, is at .present on a trip , round the islands. 1 Mr. and Mrs Ron Ede, of Feilding, are guests of Mr and Mrs M. W. Worsfold, Clifton Avenue. Miss Noline Stubbs, of Carterton* well known in tennis circles, who announced her engagement to Mr H. H. Trapp, at Easter, is to be married on September 12. They will afterwards sail for Australia as Mr Trapp has been transferred to the Sydney office of the Bank of New South Wales. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Mary Rose, eldest daughter of Dr and Mrs H. M.- Wilson, Lyndhurst Road, Hastings, and John: Kinsella Ludbrook, of Puketapu, and youngest son of Mr and Mrs Henry S. Ludbrook, Paihie, Bay of Islands. THEATRE PARTY. Seventy members of the Country Women’s Club, Masterton, together with their husbands and friends went in a party to see “The Cingalee.” ' Many members of the party had come long distances. All thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and after the play returned to the clubrooms for supper, which was thoughtfully provided and served by the committee, under the capable direction of Miss Nina Boddington, the secretary. The guests were received by the president, Mrs A. C. Gawith, and the re-ception-room looked very bright with bowls ’of lachenalia, wattle-bloom and lacquered “honesty.”
