AUSTRALIAN MINERS
ANTICIPATION OF GENERAL STRIKE TWO COMPANIES CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS FOLLOWING ON STOPPAGE AND THREATS (Recd This Day, 11.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The North Wallarah Colliery Proprietory Ltd. and the Aberfield Coal Company today , call for two hundred non-union miners to work in their three mines at Swansea. Unionists employed at these mines stopped work on Monday. Representatives of the companies stated that a sabotage threat has been made, and that the mines will probably be declared “black” by the Miners’ Federation. Mining officials believe that the owners’ decision may possibly precipP tate a general stoppage in New South Wales.
