TRUCE TAKES EFFECT
RUSSIANS AND JAPANESE AT CHANGKUFENG BOTH SIDES RETIRE FROM HILL RECORD OF POSITIONS HELD (Recd This Day, 9.40 a.m.) TOKIO, August 14. In fulfilment of Friday’s agreement the Russian and Japanese troops have withdrawn a distance of ninety yards from Changkufeng Hill. The armistice agreement was completed by signatures on maps specifying the positions respectively held when hostilities ceased. The Japanese handed over to Soviet representatives forty Soviet corpses from the battlefields of July 31.
