EKETAHUNA
PLUNKET SOCIETY. (“Times-Age” Special). At the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna branch of the Plunket Society there were present Mesdames Albrechtsen (chair), Gray, Richardson, Simmers, Macky and the secretary, Mrs A. S. Carter. Apologies were received from Mesdames H. Simpson and L. Ives. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mrs Crewe, president of the Pahiatua branch. The nurse’s report, which was read and adopted, showed the following figures for June and July, June figures being mentioned first: —Visits to homes 16, 12; visits of adults to rooms 73, 54; babies 70, 52; older children 4, 12; new babies for the month 2, 5. The Tiraumea branch of the W.D.F.U. was thanked for a gift of garments and a donation of £1 ss. It was reported that the shop day in July had been a success, the proceeds being £4 12s 3d. This sum is to be placed towards the purchase of a lawn mower for the Rest Room grounds. It was decided to purchase a basinette on stand to be used at the rooms for demonstration purposes. The following subscriptions and donations were ■ acknowledged with thanks: —Mesdames Simmers, H. Percy, W. N. Richardson, E. Evans, C. Bailey, S. M. George, Ives, Kenny and Miss Anderson each ss; Mesdames Harman, C. Robbie and Woodley each 2s 6d. HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Bush women’s championship for the season has been won by the Hamua Club, while Hastwells were again successful in the men’s division. GOLF TEAM. The following team will play a match with Mahunga on Sunday, com-’ mencing at 10 a.m.:—J. Dickson, R. McGregor, J., P. and R. Payne, P. Bouzaid, J. Tuckett, N. Richardson, W. Pry de, Wilson, Shale, Fredricksen, Marenzi, R. Dickson.
