(Recd This Day, 9.40 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Aug. 12. v ■ After a deadlock, which has enabled Marshal Chiang Kai-shek to revise his defence plans and station a millions trained men round Hankow, the Japanese resumed their drive on that city at two points on the south bank of the Yangtse, but were repulsed at Kuling and are strongly opposed west of Kiukiang. Terrorists started bomb-throwing, to celebrate the anniversary of the outbreak of hostilities in Shanghai. Three Chinese were killed when four bombs were thrown at a Japanese mill. CHINESE AMAZONS. TWENTY THOUSAND GIRLS UNDER TRAINING. (Recd This Day, 9.40 a.m.) HONG KONG, Aug. 12. Twenty thousand Chungking girls are receiving military training. BOMBING RAID HEAVY CASUALTY LIST IN HANKOW (Recd This Day, 10.35 a.m.) HANKOW, August 12. . As the result of an air raid 150 persons were killed and 200 injured at the Wuchang Railway Station. Concentrating on the aerodrome and railway terminus, an air raid, described as the worst experienced, took place today. The casualties were the highest of any raid and many bombs fell in densely-populated areas. The Chinese expect a renewed Japanese drive to Hankow next week.
