+ ADDRESS ON SWINE HUSBANDRY. (“Times-Age’,’ Special.) An interesting arid instructive address was given to a large audience by Mr H. R. Denize, of the Department of Agriculture, Palmerston North, on Wednesday, in the South Featherston Hall. The address was illustrated by lantern slides, and thos& present expressed appreciation of the valuable advice given. Mr Nielsen, District Supervisor of the Wellington Pig Council, also addressed the meeting on matters of interest. Mr Hubbard, Inspector of Stock, Masterton, was present and also spoke on the pig industry. Mr Rendle, who was in the chair at the conclusion proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the speakers which was carried ..by acclamation. PLUNKET SOCIETY. The monthly meeting of the Featherston Branch of the Plunket Society was held in the rooms yesterday. There were present Mesdames Algar Williams (in the chair), Archie Clark, H. R. Bloxam, G. S. Sharp, V. Bergh, A. S. Kilsby, J. R. Matthews, F. M. Turner. Apologies for non attendance were received from Mesdames Q. Donald, R. W. Matthews. J. G. McKenzie, E. M. Wakely, G. Yule, N. C. C. Shepherd, J. G. Donald, G. W. Brandon and J. A. Halpin. The credit balance at the Bank of New Zealand and the P. 0.5.8. was reported as £9B 7s Id. Accounts amounting to £2 14s 9d were passed for payment. The nurse’s report gave the following figures for the month:—Number on books since work began, 794; babies under supervision, 75; pre-school children, 29; new cases, 3 naturally fed, 1 artificially fed. Visits to homes: New cases, 23; old cases, 64. Viscits to rooms: Adults, 34; babies, 29; pre-school children, 16. Districts visited: Pukio, Featherston, Kaiwaiwai, South Featherston, Pihautea, Kahutara, Western Lake, Pigeon Bush, Martinborough, Dyerville, Otatia, Pirinoa and Lower Valley. MINIATURE RIFLES. The following are the scores at the shoot on Tuesday evening:—A. Gain, 100; P. Gain, 100; C. Bain, 99; J. Bain, 98; Miss Cross, 98; R. Rasmussen, 98; L. Rasmussen, 97; P. Currie, 97; Mrs Fenwick, 97; T. George, 96; B. Willis, 96; M. Fuge, 96. During the evening Mr P. Wilton (secretary), made a presentation on behalf of members to Miss Gunderson and Mr P. Currie, whose marriages take place at an early date. The last inter-club match of the season will be fired this evening against. Martinborough, at South Featherston.
