FEATHERSTON

LABOUR PARTY MEETING (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Featherston Branch of the N.Z. Labour Party on Monday night there was a very large attendance. In view of the nearness of the election, matters of policy and finance were discussed. Fifteen new members were enrolled, which makes the Featherston Branch the strongest in the constituency. The member for the district, Mr Ben Roberts, who was unavoidably absent, was accorded hearty congratulations on the able speech made during his seconding of the Address-in-Reply in the House of Representatives. The secretary of the Branch reported that all men fit for work were now employed, and that with large proposed undertakings being put in hand the outlook in this district, both for business men and workers alike, was very bright. The secretary was asked to forward a motion of thanks to the Hon R. Semple for having visited Featherston. At the conclusion of general business, Mr G. Maloney, the secretary of the governing body of the constituency, gave an address on “The Labour Party in Relation to History,” which produced considerable discussion. MEETING OF SCOUTS. The annual meeting of the Scout Committee will be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall tomorrow night (August 4) commencing at 7.30 o’clock, when a number of important matters will be discussed.
