GUN DOG TRIALS

WAIRARAPA CLUB MEETING. The Wairarapa Gun Dog Trial Club held a successful meeting on Mr H. Nees’ property during the weekend. Conditions were ideal for the working of the dogs, although the inclement weather affected the attendance of the public. The meeting was notable for the high standard set in the puppy and novice classes, and also for a fine performance by the winner of the Open Land Trial. Mr C. E. Grey judged all events except the puppy and novice competitions, which were judged by Mr E. C. Fowler. The following were the results: — Open Land Trial. —R. V. Mason’s Labrador F.T. Ch. Silky Sue, 94 points, 1; G. F. Birkett’s Irish Setter Basuto Belle, 87 points, 2; W. A. Wilton’s Irish Setter Daisy, 84 points, 3. Puppy Land Trial—M. A. Rawlins’s Labrador Cleopatra May, 86 points, 1; A. Mclvor’s Brown Retriever Waiata Boy, 79 points, 2; C. E. Grey’s Brown Retriever Taueru Bess, and W. O.
