PRE=WEDDING PARTY
FUNCTION AT TE WHITI.
A very large gathering of settlers from Te Whiti and the surrounding district recently tendered a “Kitchen Tea,” dance, and social evening to one of their number (Mr “Len” Pike) in view of his approaching wedding. The local hall was filled to its capacity with bearers of every manner of artistic and useful gifts for their popular neighbour and his equally popular bride-to-be. Mr “Len” Phillips, of Kaitoke, made an excellent speech in the course of presenting Miss Gust with a “vegetable” bouquet .of huge dimensions and including every available vegetable in season and which was greatly admired for its artistic construction. Mr F. Rogers did like honour to Mr Pike by way Of address, and to equal hearty applause. In the course of the evening songs were sung by the Misses Potangaroa (2), Master Clifford Bishop, and Mr “Pera” Morris, who also supplied the music for the dance which was held under the capable direction of Mr W. H. Bradley as M.C. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” concluded one of the happiest gatherings the Te Whiti Hall has seen for many years.
