About three months ago a farmer at Manua, near Hikurangi, endeavoured to catch a large eel noticed in a creek on his property. His efforts proving unsuccessful, he tied his fishing line to a stump on the creek bank, but next day the line was found broken. A few days ago a neighbour caught a large eel in a small tributary of the creek about half a mile away. Noticing a large lump on the side of the abdomen, he investigated. Inside the eel a hook two inches long, together with about two feet of line was found. This was identified as part of the tackle missing three months before. A portion of the original bait, which had solidified, was still attached to the hook. A palmist claimed the other day that she had only to look at a person’s hand to tell what was going to happen. When we play cards, our partner after seeing our hand always tells us what should have happened. Radio dealers are now trying to persuade us that television is the answer to “Where Do We Go From Hear.”
