COMING OF AGE
ENJOYABLE PARTY. Miss Joan' McKenzie, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs John McKenzie, of Puke Te, Weraiti, was the guest of honour at a very enjoyable party held on Saturday night. Among the toasts honoured were:— The King (proposed by Mr Chapman); “Miss Joan McKenzie” (Mr FreemanMr Jim McKenzie on behalf of Miss McKenzie); “Mr and Mrs McKenzie” (Mr J. James-Mr J. McKenzie). A centre of attraction was a beautiful birthday cake which had been iced by Mrs M. Wrigley. Miss McKenzie was the recipient of many messages of congratulation, and was presented with the usual honours of the occasion. Among the many beautiful gifts received was a beautiful camphor box sent by Miss Mary McKenzie, sister of the guest of honour, who is on the staff of the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Fiji. Dancing competitions and games were indulged in and recitations were given by Miss Coyla Cairns. Miss Joan McKenzie wore crushed violet velvet with sash lined with pink velvet and toning violet shoulder spray. Mrs McKenzie was attired in black velvet with cream lace cuffs and jabot and beautiful natural shoulder spray of pansies. Among the guests were Mr and Mrs John McKenzie, Mr and Mrs Chapman, Mr and Mrs Loughlin (Wellington), Mr and Mrs J. W. McKenzie, Mr and Mrs D. S. McKenzie, Mr and Mrs John Stuart (Marton), Mr and Mrs D. McKenzie, Mrs K. McGovern, Mr and Mrs J. M. James, Mrs W. L. Wrigley, Mrs J. Bannister, Mr and Mrs J. Gray, Mr and Mrs B. McGovern, Mrs G. S.
