GREYTOWN
THE DAIRY SEASON. (“Times-Age” Special.) Preparations are well in hand for the new dairy season, and it ’is expected that a larger number of cows will be milked than was the case last season. The value of herd testing is now being generally recognised among dairy farmers, and at recent sales tested .cows have been in good demand; in fact keen farmers now demand that returns be supplied before they purchase cows for their herds. The Grey town factory will commence the new season on Monday next. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs L. R. Huntley, who have been on a trip to England, have returned to Matarawa. - ENJOYABLE SOCIAL. A very enjoyable time was spent in the Fire Brigade Hall when Mr and Mrs Norman Woodley were entertained at a social by their friends to mark the occasion of their recent marriage. After several toasts had been honoured a large number of presents were opened. Mr Woodley suitably returned thanks for the honour done Mrs Woodley and himself that evening and for the presents received. Dancing was indulged in during the evening and a number of musical items given. TROTTING CLUB. At a meeting of the stewards of the Wairarapa Trotting Club it was announced the dates which the Club had applied for, December 26 and February 25, had been approved of.
The New Zealand Conference wrote in connection with the remount engagement scheme. The secretary stated that the club had contributed £l3 towards the fund. —Mr George McKenzie was appointed the club’s representative at any conference which might be held. The secretary presented a statement which showed that the loss during the year has been £316 3s 2d. On the other side, there was a stock of tickets on hand as well as unpaid subscrip-' tions. H. McNae was recommended for a trainer’s and driver’s license. It was resolved that the annual meeting be held on Wednesday, August 31. The retiring stewards are: Messrs A. O. Abbott, R. W. Beu, W. J. Fitzgerald, R. Gallon, J. C. Skeet, Ben Sewell, R. R. Tilson.
