Lozell has returned to Nireaha from a holiday spent in the north. Mrs J. Burns, of Wellington, is the guest of Miss R. Schnell, Rongomai. Mrs George Parkes is the guest of her mother, Mrs P. Fauvel, Eketahuna. Mrs C. Smith has returned to Hukanui after a holiday spent in Auckland. Miss McCann, of Carterton, is the guest of Mrs R. Thomasen, of Nireaha. Miss C. George, who has been on a visit to Alfredton, has returned to Hastings. Mrs J. Byrne, of Pahiatua, has returned from a holiday spent at Paraparaumu. Mrs A. Lawrence, of Hukanui, has as her guest Miss J. Prussing, of Martinborough. Mrs H. Paterson, of Pahiatua, is on a visit to Dunedin in connection with a meeting of the Dominion Council of the Plunket Society. Miss D. Laing, Masterton, who is a visitor to Wellington for the conference of Women’s Institutes, is the guest of Mrs W. M. Laing, Seatoun. Miss Amy Kane was elected president for the coming year at yesterday’s conference of the New Zealand Federation of Women’s Institutes. About 100 guests were welcomed by Mr and Mrs Anton Anderson in the Eketahuna Odd Fellows’ Hall last Saturday night to celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter,. Gwen. During the evening, Mr Anderson presented his daughter with a’birthday cake and a gold key to mark her new status of responsible womanhood. Mr M. Priest, on behalf of the guests, asked Miss Anderson to accept the handsome gifts which were given, with the good wishes of the donors. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss P. Doherty and Mr C. Pickett, and the lucky spot and streamer waltz by Miss E. Edmonds and Mr L. Scott. The very happy function concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem. MAURICEVILLE WEST Mr and Mrs A. Burnett, of Hawke’s Bay, have been the guests of Mr and Mrs A. Forsberg. Miss D. Palmer, Wanganui, spent a recent week-end with her parents, Mr and Mrs R. Palmer. Miss L. Eneveldsen, Palmerston North, has returned home after having spent a week in Mauriceville as the guest of Mrs Mortensen. Miss A. McGovern, “Mahoe,” and Miss R. Mortensen, “Bakkelea,” Mauriceville, are visitors to Wellington for the Women’s Institutes’ Dominion Conference.
