FOUND HARMLESS

'MAN WHO SHOOK HANDS WITH PRESIDENT. CARRYING LOADED PISTOL IN HIS POCKET. SANTA ANA (Cal.), July 17. William Bond, aged 60, an ambulance service operator, was arrested this afternoon, when a loaded revolver was found in one of his pockets after he had insisted on passing through lines of police in order to shake hands with President Roosevelt while the President was lunching in a public park. Later he was released. Officials said that he was harmless and had tried to use the Pasadena police sheriff’s credentials. Mr Roosevelt finished his meal unaware of the incident. He sails this evening aboard the cruiser Houston on a leisurely fishing expedition off Mexico and Central America, including the Galapagos Islands, and the Cocos Isles, after which he will visit the Panama Canal zone. He will return to the United States on August 9.
