LONDON’ QUOTATIONS. LAMB MARKET STEADY. Lamb market: Tendency of market is steady excepting second quality. Consumption continues good. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, with heavier arrivals prices weaker. Beef market: Chilled beef, slightly easier on the warm weather. New Zealand porker pigs: Lightweights firmer, trade slow. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market steady and unchanged. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses: —

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have re-, ceived the following cable from their London agents dated July 14: —Frozen meat quotations (prices on a “delivered” basis, i.e., including storage charges, cartage, market tolls, etc): — North Island Down lambs, 28/361bs, 73d; 36/421bs, 71d; best North Island xbd lambs, 28/361bs, 7 3-8 d; 36/421bs, 7 3-8 d; North Island 2nd quality lambs av. 30/311bs, 6 7-8 d; best North Island wether sheep under 481 b, sfd; 48/561bs, 53d; 56/641bs, sd; 64/721bs, 4£d. North Island ewes, under 481 b, 3 7-8 d; 48/56’s, 33d; 56/64’s, 3Jd; 64/72’sfi 3 l-Bd. Compared with last week’s quotations, wethers, 48/721bs, were l-8d per lb lower; ewes, u/481bs, l-8d per lb lower; others unchanged. The lamb is steady. The demand for mutton is poor. The market is easier all round.
