FEATHERSTON
BROTHERS LONG SERVICE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Two brothers, Messrs Ben and Ted Mellish, can claim something of a record, at least as far as the Wairarapa is concerned. Commencing in 1898 as gardeners at “Fernside,” they have been employed by the Elgar family ever since. As their home is in Featherston, they cycle to and from it. It has been their custom throughout, to start very early in the morning, particularly in the summer time, when they are at work at 5 a.m. DANCE AT CROSS CREEK. The annual dance of the Cross Creek Golf Club was held on Saturday evening in the Railway Social Hall and a most enjoyable time was spent by the dancers. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr C. Wilton and partner and the Lucky Spot dance by Mr Jeffery and partner. Mi' H. Benge was M.C. JUVENILE CONCERT PARTY. A euchre tournament was held yesterday at Mrs Lowell’s home in aid of the Featherston Juvenile Concert Party. Mrs Brophy won the first prize and Miss Esma Card the second. The consolation went to Mrs Hankers. PERSONALS. Mr and Mrs A. H. Ashdown, Te Moana, left by motor today for a holiday in Auckland.
