MAURICEVILLE

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville Women’s Institute was held at Mauriceville West on Tuesday afternoon when Mrs H. Freeman presided . over a fair attendance. The treasurer (Miss McGovern) presented the balance sheet of the birthday celebrations, which showed quite a good profit. It was decided to accept the offer of the Masterton Savage Club to bring out a concert party, and to hold a dance afterwards. The roll call was the best “Scottish Yarn.” Mrs N. McKay gave a most interesting talk on her recent trip abroad and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competition for the afternoon was won by Miss Ruth Mortensen with Mrs Osborne second. Afternoon tea which included some Scotch cake was much enjoyed.
