MINIATURE RIFLES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The following were the scores in the last competition held by the Nireaha Miniature Rifle Club:—L. Sigvertsen 99-3-99; C. P. Clout, 95-4-99; L. Gibson, 90-12-99; M. Stewart, 98-2-99; W. Manser, 93-3-96; P. Petersen, 95-0-95; Miss B. Petersen, 90-4-94; L. Lilly, 94-4-98; B. Davidson, 80-12-92; R. Hanson, 85-10-95; R. Shannon, 90-5-95; G. Drysdale, 49-15-64; S. R. Blewett, 89-6-95; Jim Petersen, 91-6-97; R. Petersen, 86-12-98; K. Death, 68-15-83; A. Butler, 53-12-65; handicap limit, 99. C. P. Clout, who won the shoot-off, takes the weekly trophy. SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS. A Sunday school class has been formed at Nireaha, the teachers being Miss Nancy Drysdale (formerly of Masterton), Mrs Arthur Golder and Mrs Wilkin. ENJOYABLE SOCIAL. The dance and card party held by the Nireaha footballers was a most enjoyable function. The following won the competitions:—Cards: Men, C. A. Goss; consolation, Mr A. Hanson; ladies, Miss B. Butler; consolation, Miss L. Shannon. The music for the dance was supplied by Messrs W. W. Drysdale, A. Hanson, J. P. Brookes and John Drysdale. Trophies for future functions have been donated by Messrs W. Drysdale, N. Petersen, C. A. Goss and J. P. Petersen. It has been decided that the profit from the next three evenings should be devoted to a benefit fund for Ron Petersen, who broke his leg while playing football on Saturday. LABOUR PARTY SOCIAL. There was a large attendance at the Labour Party’s social on Monday night, including Mr J. Robertson, M.P. Mr W. Hooper was M.C. and the music was supplied by an orchestra, extras being played by Mrs G. Hansen and Mr N. Liardet. Five pupils of Miss Lock (Masterton) gave much pleasure with tapdancing duos. Vocal items were rendered by Mrs Fox (Eketahuna), Mrs Olliver (Masterton), Mr Don Falkner (Eketahuna), the latter being accompanied on a guitar by Miss Edwards. Miss. Lock (Masterton) gave two much appreciated tap dances. BASKETBALL TEAM’S VISIT. During the weekend the Seatoun School basketball team visited Eketahuna. They were entertained by the primary girls and boys at a social on Friday evening. Songs were given by Mrs Fox and Misses J. Waterreus, I. Waterreus, R. Fraser, M. McNab, B. Kelsall and H. Bull. Miss J. Hornblow played a piano solo and a recitation was given by Miss M. Gray. After a short community sing supper was served. The basketball game resulted: Eketahuna 9, Seatoun 8.
